Kerivoula pellucida
Habitat
Mature lowland forest
Range
Peninsular Thailand and Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo
The clear-winged woolly bat is a delicate Kerivoula named for unusually translucent wing membranes. It has woolly brown fur, large funnel-shaped ears and short broad wings that permit slow flight among dense branches. External appearance plus skull and acoustic features distinguish it from related woolly bats (Mammal Diversity Database; regional bat field guide).
Its Sundaic range includes peninsular Thailand and Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo. It is strongly associated with mature lowland forest and is usually detected in understorey harp traps. Roosting and reproduction remain little documented, while forest dependence makes habitat conversion a concern (regional forest-bat surveys; Mammal Diversity Database). It is Nationally Near Threatened (Thailand Red Data 2025).
