Temminck's tailless fruit bat is a medium-small fruit bat with large eyes, a relatively short muzzle and no external tail. Its brownish pelage may show a paler collar, while the ears lack the conspicuous white margins of Cynopterus. Current mammal taxonomy places it in Megaerops and records it across mainland Southeast Asia and the Sunda region (Mammal Diversity Database; regional bat field guide).
It inhabits lowland and montane forest and feeds on fruit, making it a potential seed disperser. Individuals are usually caught in forest understorey or edge mist nets rather than found in large cave colonies. Published species-specific breeding and lifespan data are limited, so these are not inferred from related fruit bats (regional bat field guide; Mammal Diversity Database). It is Nationally Least Concern (Thailand Red Data 2025).
