Geoffroy's rousette is a robust fruit bat with a dog-like muzzle, large eyes and a short tail whose base lies within the tail membrane. Like other Rousettus, it can navigate dark caves using tongue-click echolocation as well as vision and smell. Its range covers much of Southeast Asia and several island groups (Mammal Diversity Database; specialist Rousettus literature).
It roosts communally in caves, sometimes in large colonies, and emerges after dusk to feed on fruit, nectar and pollen. By carrying fruit and visiting flowers it can disperse seeds and transfer pollen. Colony size and local diet vary greatly, so isolated figures are not generalized to Thailand (regional cave-bat studies). It is Nationally Least Concern (Thailand Red Data 2025).
