The Southeast Asian white-toothed shrew is smaller than the Asian house shrew and has dark grey to blackish fur with a dull silvery sheen and a thin tail. Genetic research indicates that animals historically placed under Crocidura fuliginosa may comprise several cryptic lineages, so locality-backed identification matters (Singapore NParks species account; Mammal Diversity Database).

It is a secretive terrestrial forest mammal distributed across mainland Southeast Asia. Insects form the principal recorded food, found while searching leaf litter and ground cover. The species is difficult to observe directly and is often detected in pitfall surveys; robust species-specific breeding data are therefore unavailable and omitted (Singapore NParks species account). It is Nationally Data Deficient (Thailand Red Data 2025).
