The Malayan pygmy shrew is a minute white-toothed shrew described from the Malay Peninsula and recorded in southern Thailand. It belongs to Suncus, but its very small size and limited specimen record distinguish it from the much larger Asian house shrew. Current taxonomic databases retain it as a valid species (Mammal Diversity Database; original and subsequent specimen-based taxonomic literature).

Verified records are associated with forest, but species-specific information on diet, breeding, daily activity and dependable measurement ranges remains too limited for a detailed account. These fields are therefore left unstated rather than inferred from other pygmy shrews. Its known distribution is narrow and continued survey work may refine it (Mammal Diversity Database; Thailand mammal checklist). It is Nationally Least Concern (Thailand Red Data 2025).
