Crocidura indochinensis
Habitat
Forest
Range
Myanmar, southern China, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam
The Indochinese white-toothed shrew is a small Crocidura with dark brownish-grey fur and a long, slender tail. Morphological revision separates it from Horsfield's shrew and places its size between the larger voracious shrew and smaller Chinese white-toothed shrew. Its range includes Myanmar, southern China, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam (specialist taxonomic review; Mammal Diversity Database).
Available records associate it with forest, but dependable species-specific accounts of diet, reproduction and activity remain scarce. Rather than borrowing values from similar Crocidura, those fields are omitted. Its inconspicuous habits and close resemblance to other regional shrews mean confirmed museum specimens are especially important for mapping distribution (IUCN species account; specialist Southeast Asian shrew revision). It is Nationally Data Deficient (Thailand Red Data 2025).
