Pendlebury's roundleaf bat is a large hipposiderid with a forearm of 7.5–8.1 cm and weight of 24–40 g. Once treated as a subspecies of H. turpis, it is now recognized as a full species after systematic study of the complex (specialist systematic study; IUCN species account).

It is endemic to peninsular Thailand and closely tied to limestone karst. Colonies occupy caves, sometimes alongside several other roundleaf, false-vampire and fruit bats. Quarrying and cave disturbance threaten a species with a naturally restricted distribution, while detailed feeding and breeding information remains limited (IUCN species account; Thai cave-fauna checklist). It is Nationally Vulnerable (Thailand Red Data 2025).
