Horsfield's roundleaf bat is a medium-sized Hipposideros with a rounded noseleaf that directs nasal constant-frequency echolocation. It belongs to a geographically variable species complex, and recent molecular work shows that some named populations do not form a simple single lineage. Identification therefore benefits from acoustic, cranial and locality evidence (specialist taxonomic study; Mammal Diversity Database).

It ranges from the Indian subcontinent through mainland Southeast Asia to parts of Indonesia. Thai records are widespread and concentrated around caves and adjacent forest. Colonies roost underground by day and disperse after dusk to hunt flying insects in cluttered vegetation (Thai cave-fauna checklist; regional bat field guide). It is Nationally Least Concern (Thailand Red Data 2025).
