Muntiacus muntjak
Diet
Omnivore, including grass
Range
Thailand, Sundaland and perhaps Malaysia
The southern red muntjac is a deer of Southeast Asia, one of the smallest deer species. It was formerly known as the Indian or common muntjac until the taxonomy was revised so that the name covers only populations in Thailand, the Sunda region and perhaps Malaysia; other populations are now assigned to the northern red muntjac. Muntjacs are also called barking deer. The hair is soft, short and brownish or greyish, sometimes with creamy markings (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is an omnivore and eats grass among other foods. The sources consulted give no further ecology (Wikipedia, general species account).
