The Indochinese gray langur is a long-tailed, arboreal leaf monkey whose taxonomy was clarified through molecular work: it is a distinct species with evidence of an ancient hybrid origin. Its coat is predominantly grey, with darker hands, feet and crown and a paler eye-ring and underside. It ranges from southern China through northern mainland Southeast Asia (Mammal Diversity Database; specialist phylogenetic study).
Groups in non-limestone evergreen forest can exceed forty animals and use both canopy and ground, although activity patterns vary with forest cover. Leaves are important food, while fruit and seeds formed about one-third of the annual diet in one field study. Dependable Thai population estimates remain limited (species-level ecological study). It is Nationally Endangered (Thailand Red Data 2025).
