Murina annamitica

Basic stats

Habitat

Mountain forest

Range

Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and southern China

The Annamite tube-nosed bat is a small Murina of the suilla morphological group, with projecting tubular nostrils and broad wings. Detailed tooth form, skull measurements and genetics distinguish it from a growing number of externally similar tube-nosed bats (specialist Murina studies; Mammal Diversity Database).

It was described from the Annamite region and is now recorded in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and southern China. Captures come from mountain forest, where it manoeuvres through dense vegetation and takes small arthropods. Day roosts and breeding remain insufficiently documented, so related-species values are omitted (species-level taxonomic and survey literature). It is Nationally Least Concern (Thailand Red Data 2025).
