Habitat

Montane forest

Range

Northern mainland Southeast Asia

The Indochinese whiskered myotis is a small Myotis recently distinguished within the mystacinus group. It has dark fur, a pointed tragus and narrow wings, while skull, tooth and genetic evidence separate it from other whiskered bats. Older records under broad names require reassessment (Mammal Diversity Database; specialist Myotis taxonomy).

Its known distribution lies in northern mainland Southeast Asia, including Thailand, and is associated mainly with montane forest. It catches small flying insects around vegetation and streams. Because recognition is recent, reliable species-specific information on roosts, reproduction and population size remains limited and is omitted (specialist taxonomic literature). No national category is stated because it is not listed under this name in Thailand Red Data 2025.
