The northern river terrapin is a large, strongly web-footed turtle adapted to tidal rivers and estuaries. Its smooth shell and powerful limbs support sustained swimming, while the diet is largely plant-based. Adults move between fresh and brackish water and females seek sandy riverbanks for nesting; mature males change colour during breeding (Wikipedia, general species account). It is Nationally Critically Endangered (Thailand Red Data 2025).
