Kitti's hog-nosed bat is among the smallest living mammals, about 29–33 mm long and roughly 2 g. It has a pig-like upturned nose, large ears, broad wings and no external tail. It is the only living species in the family Craseonycteridae (IUCN species assessment; specialist bat accounts).
Its tiny range is confined to limestone areas of western Thailand and south-eastern Myanmar. Small colonies roost deep in caves and make brief evening and dawn foraging flights for tiny insects in nearby dry forest. Quarrying, cave disturbance and degradation of surrounding vegetation threaten sites (IUCN species assessment). It is Nationally Endangered (Thailand Red Data 2025).
