The great eared nightjar is a large, long-winged nocturnal bird with prominent ear tufts, cryptic brown plumage and a long forked tail. It ranges through South and Southeast Asia in forest, woodland and clearings. At dusk it patrols above the canopy and open areas, taking flying insects in its broad gape; by day it rests lengthwise along a branch where its plumage conceals it (Wikipedia, general species account).
