Chloropsis moluccensis
Habitat
Forest and second growth
Range
Southeast Asia as far east as Borneo and as far south as southern Sumatra
The blue-winged leafbird is a green leafbird of forest and second growth. The male has a green body with a yellow-tinged head, a black face and throat and a blue moustachial line. The female has a greener head and a blue throat, and young birds resemble the female but lack the blue throat patch. The similar golden-fronted leafbird lacks blue in the flight feathers and tail and has a golden forehead (Wikipedia, general species account).
Like other leafbirds it has a rich call that mixes imitations of other birds. The blue colour of the wings comes from gyroid crystals in the feather cells. The species was once treated as including Jerdon's leafbird of the Indian subcontinent, the Bornean leafbird and the Javan leafbird, all now split off (Wikipedia, general species account).
